Homemade Kits & Baskets
Sewing Kit: include scissors, needles, thread, rickrack and trim, straight pins, a fancy pin cushion, buttons, a pattern and some fabric- put all in a nice sewing box or basket!
Pizza & A Movie Kit: Put everything on a pizza pan- boboli crust, pizza sauce, pre grated cheese, pepperoni, canadian bacon, canned pineapple along with a movie or gift certificate to movie store. Don't forget a pizza cutter. (I think it's prefectly ok to leave out the refridgerated items if refridgeration is not possible)
Picnic Basket: I find this to be the perfect gift for a wedding. In fact, we got this, and the givers made sure we took it with us when we left, which was perfect because Room Service was closed by the time we got to the hotel and we were STARVING!! So, in a nice picnic basket, include a small cutting board and knife along with smoked cheese, those little breads and crackers, hummus, cloth napkins and some drinks- champagne, Mike's or even wine.
Baking Kit: all dry ingredients, pre measured for cookies, brownies, muffins, breads... something nice and bakeable. Don't forget jam, spreaders, a muffin tin and a hotpad or apron!
Movie Night: Different types of popcorn, candy bars (especially their favorites), sodas and a movie.
Make It Soups: Dry ingredients for soup, bread ingredients or mix or a garlic (or other) spread for bread. Soup bowls and spoons. Cloth napkins.
Writer's Box: In a decorated box, include cards, stationary, nice pens, calendar and address book. Don't forget stamps!
Tea Basket: In a nice tea tin or basket, include a variety of herbal teas and a tea cup. What about sugar? Tea spoon? Maybe a fancy tea strainer with loose tea? Don't forget to add munchables like biscotti or cookies.
Dress Up Box: in a vintage suitcase, pack it full with shoes and skirts and dresses, wigs, pants, those fancy vintage nighties, neckties, gloves, eyeglasses, belts, rings, scarves, bracelets, necklaces, clip on earrings, hats, work shirts, vests, aprons- basically got crazy at the thrift store. If you can't find a suitcase, use a large carboard box and decorate it.
